Welcome!

I am Koen Dekker, an animator from the Netherlands. I have a passion for storytelling and all kinds of animation. I specialize in 2D animation, which I make in TVPaint, but I also have experience as a video editor and compositor.

Software experience includes After Effects, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, Blender and DaVinci Resolve.

Nathaniel Bandy

I was an animator on the YouTube channel 'Nathaniel Bandy' for his 3D Sonic Marathon. I designed and animated the main intro, the intro to Sonic Colors Ultimate and the animation for the final timer.

Sonic Colors Ultimate
I wanted to put the emphasis on the wisps and their colors. To do that I deliberately started with a white background that would gradually fill with color.

Main intro
The main idea was to have a graveyard as the setting and have the game boxes come out of the ground. I added a cartoon version of Nathan to make it more obvious that the voice-over is talking about him. For the animation I wanted to do a mix of techniques, combining hand-drawn animation and backgrounds with 3D models for the game boxes.

The Mangai Project

I was an animator on the YouTube channel 'The Mangai Project', a fan project dedicated to making a fully animated series about a LEGO property called 'Bionicle'.
I did the character and FX animation for several scenes, detailed below.

Studio Massa

I was an animator for the YouTube channel Studio Massa on the online show "Ongezellig". I contributed to the animation, coloring and shading of the characters in parts 3 to 6. Most of my work was the animation of the characters' hair.
